The initiative is dedicated to Ippolito Pizzetti (1926-2007), a luminous designer and inventor of gardens and landscapes. The title of the exhibition recalls his cultural heritage, echoing that of the collection of his writings for the magazine ‘Golem l’Indispensabile’ (Gruppo Editoriale Motta 2006, new ed. Encyclomedia 2011).
The traditional idea of the garden as a protected environment and a perfect place of domesticated nature is being appropriately replaced by that of a space, metaphorical and real at the same time, of direct experience and interaction with nature and other living beings, of cultivation and care, of ecological and social relations, of creativity and well-being, of aesthetic resistance and civic activism. A welcoming and experimental place, ideally always open, that garden that Ippolito Pizzetti loved and defended, tirelessly committed to the dissemination of a design culture based first and foremost on knowledge and respect for nature.
The review, organised annually in September, is curated by Simonetta Zanon (the Foundation’s landscape project manager).
