Since 1988, the Foundation has published several series of publications dedicated to its main fields of scientific interest.
In particular, the publishing series ‘Memorie’, dedicated to the landscape, ‘Ludica’, with its annual journal of the same name dedicated to the history of games, and ‘Studi veneti’, as well as ‘Miscellaneous’ volumes connected to specific projects, also of an exhibition nature, in the more general field of cultural heritage.

The journal, published since 1995, aims to be a contribution to the reflection on the characters and values assumed by “things of the game” over the centuries, by that ludic dimension, precisely, ingrained with the human story, for a long time overshadowed and today finally recovered to the seriousness of studies. “Ludica” collects interventions of a varied nature, content, but above all for the multiple perspectives of observation, at the intersection of different fields of research, with particular attention to historical and social contexts. Even the choice of the centuries examined by the studies (including between late antiquity and the beginning of the 20th century) is intended to fill another gap in the field of reflection on the history of play, which has always been aimed at the investigation of classical ludi or contemporary sports.

The series entitled “Ludica” extends the scope of the journal of the same name by publishing works of particular length, importance and substance in the field of the history of games, pastimes and festive activities; for the most part the work published originates in research promoted and coordinated by the Foundation. The aim of the series is to explore the role of ludicity in various contexts, starting from the assumption that “games” constitute an inescapable part of the historical process, emerging at the most improbable and unpredictable junctures.

Directed by Luigi Latini e Monique Mosser
The series collects the Foundation’s contributions in the field of cultural heritage governance theory and practice, particularly in the field of landscapes, gardens and the study of places, in order to stimulate innovation and a much-needed reform of the economy of culture.
It usually hosts materials of investigation, proposal and experimentation produced directly by the Foundation’s scientific work for the knowledge, preservation and enhancement of natural and historical heritages.

“Miscellaneous publications” books are connected to specific projects, including exhibition ones, that Fondazione Benetton promotes within the broader scope of cultural assets.
