Landscapes

music, theatre, dance, meetings

edition 2024

The Fondazione Benetton Studi Ricerche and the almamusica433 association, with the proximity and support of the Fondazione CMB, a strategic ally in the proposal of cultural activities, are organising between February and June 2024 the second season of Landscapes, a rich calendar of music, theatre, dance and meeting events, under the artistic direction of Stefano Trevisi, which will be held in the church of San Teonisto in Treviso, and will end with a concert at Casa Luisa and Gaetano Cozzi, Zero Branco (Treviso).

This edition, like the previous one, will integrate the classical and ancient repertoire, which has always been present in the musical proposals of the Benetton Foundation, with other artistic genres, also giving space to meetings and conferences, addressing a wide and heterogeneous audience.
The leitmotif that gives the review its title, Landscapes, stems from the desire to reflect on contemporary landscapes, from deserts to borders, to territories of the soul, frontier places in the face of the challenges we are facing, in the need, as suggested by the words of philosopher Umberto Galimberti, one of the protagonists of the review: ‘to walk the earth without owning it, because life belongs to nature’.

‘These themes,’ explains Luigi Latini, director of the Fondazione Benetton Studi Ricerche, ’are in tune with the research themes on landscape and the study of places that have always been part of the life of the Foundation, and which find a synthesis in the symbolic image of the tree that stands out in the altarpiece of the high altar of the church of San Teonisto, by the artist Safet Zec. A large, astonishing tree crown invading the space with light and colour’.

‘Landscapes, the Fondazione Benetton’s project dedicated to the performing arts, celebrated its first year of life in 2023, and today presents itself to the city and to those who wish to follow it with an absolutely original and special programme,’ says Stefano Trevisi, artistic director of the event. ’In this second edition, the track we have followed is that of silence, of the desert also understood as the inner silence from which intuition is born. In the shadow of the tree created by Safet Zec for the high altar of the Church of St Theonistus, metaphorically, we can find the well that hides in every desert, but remaining aware that ‘the oasis is made for the body, the desert for the soul’, as an African proverb recites. From last year’s step of Cosimo di Rondò to setting out into the desert; a new journey with new companions, new voices, new perspectives and new possibilities for transformation for those who undertake it’.
