XVII edition, 2021
The 17th International Landscape Study Days took place online 18-19 and 25-26 February 2021. The event constitutes the main opportunity for public reflection and discussion on the Foundation’s lines of research.
Our bodily presence in a place and the tangible experience of physical reality are one of the reasons we feel we belong in what we call the landscape.
At a time in history when the measurement of physical distances and the power of virtual representations are proceeding in opposite directions, the 2021 Study Days explore or retrace moments and thoughts in which landscape culture and practice look, or have looked, at our bodies as an active presence, the unavoidable subject of a world that transforms and reveals itself through our physicality.
All against the backdrop of an obvious desire for nature that pervades our society.
The days are divided into four sessions entitled, respectively, in the imaginary; in the urban space; in the home; in the landscape; in the garden.
This scheme is not intended to separate spheres and contexts that by their nature live intertwined, proposing instead to evoke, by means of key words, some possible directions to explore through what also seem to us to be essential coordinates around which we organise our presence in places.
