Call edition 2026
Deadline: Monday 25 May 2026
Aims and contents
The Benetton Foundation is dedicating the 2026 landscape design workshop to a short section of the Sile river, downstream from the city of Treviso, in the municipalities of Casier and Silea, a typical context of the resurgence river that stands out for the unexpected presence of the “archaeological” area known as the burci cemetery and, on the opposite bank, of a partly abandoned industrial landscape. In the large ruined buildings that accompany the course of the river, new wild ecosystems are now developing thanks to pioneer and ruderal vegetation that is also enveloping the still visible remains of the old semi-submerged boats.
In continuity with the experience conducted in 2025 (Unveiling landscapes. The resurgences of Botteniga north of Treviso), the workshop looks again at a water landscape, the most connotative element of this territory, a much-loved and lived-in landscape, and stands as a moment of reflection and awareness on the meaning of exploration, observation and representation of the dynamism of emblematic places of the era we live in. Environments that are not only spaces available for leisure, not even theaters of memory or spaces awaiting replacement processes, which represent, instead, opportunities for design experimentation aimed at the future. Places that invite us to grasp, in the “nature of abandonment”, the disruptive presence of all living beings and the physical elements that act in the landscape, giving it shape and meaning. To imagine, alongside innovative forms of knowledge and design of the places themselves (an exercise possible only with the complicity of many different contributions), also a more conscious relationship of people with the landscape and their own places of life.
Teachers: Antonio Perazzi and Benedetta Forni, Studio Antonio Perazzi, Milan
