The exhibition showcases a set of cartographic, bibliographic, photographic and audiovisual materials that strive to document the historical-geographical and landscape-related aspects of the village of Taneka Beri — site designated by the 22nd edition of the International Carlo Scarpa Garden Prize — located in northern Benin, at the edge of the Atakora massif.
The exhibition is set up in the three historical halls of Palazzo Bomben starting with a basic contextualisation of the connections between the great events of the African continent and the settlement of the Tangba people, the construction of their own place, their own linguistic structures and community life.
The next section illustrates, through contemporary and historical films, the shapes and spaces that characterise the village.
The last section depicts recent field research and presents materials from the recent study trip conducted last December to survey the site, to experiment with different ways of measuring space-time and which recorded a number of study angles, in the attempt to focus on the role that the landscape of the village may have in terms of dialogue and exchange with other cultures.
