I believe that art happens — when it is true art — when there is a complex dialogue with the state of things.
And although works of art sometimes have the ability to arouse differing interpretations by viewers, I believe that the world of creation always aspires to something universal and shared.
My passion for painting, as well as for architecture, stems from its very nature of universal language, and its ability to reveal what is already in the air.
The exhibition collects the work of two hundred artists gathered under the symbolic title Ojo latino and represents the tie between this passion and the love for the Latin American continent, a land we in Treviso feel deeply connected to through a friendship based on a human history of migrations, and where we perceive, more than in other part of the world, the energy and wish to look forwards, typical of youth.
Since I was unable to meet all these artists from twenty different countries in Latin America, I thought I would ask them to express a sign of their creative identity — the only restriction being the small format, the same for everyone. With the most diverse personalities, styles, themes, techniques, the works bear witness, as a whole, to the evolution of an entire continent and provide expressive hints for a new project for the world and society.
I am happy of the outcome of this wide collection of non-academic art, which is also authentic representation of life. And I am proud of the fact that, after the two exhibitions in Santiago de Chile, the first European stage for this anthology is in Treviso, in an exhibition space that takes an intensive part in the cultural growth of my town.
