What space does or urban environment offer to our imagination, to our emotions…to our humanity? This theme is central to the work of Georges Descombes.
From the road in the heart of the Voie Suisse forest to the requalification of an area struck by a plane crash, near Amsterdam, the works of this landscape architect raise the question of the «right creation». Georges Descombes and some of his travel companions such as Herman Hertzberger and Michel Corajoud, speak of their work and launch a biting view of current architecture that is too far removed from life, in a film that represents a journey that is both poetic and philosophical because «We can live without philosophy, without music, without love…but not so well. We can live with an architecture lacking all artistic dimension…but not so well.»
Carlos López, architect, urban planner, designer and director, left Argentina in 1979 for political reasons and settled in Geneva. He is the founder and director of «Faces» magazine (architecture and contemporary art) and co-founder and first president of the association for the preservation of Cinema Manhattan (now Auditorium Arditi-Wilsdorf).
