Social media policy
1. Aims
This policy regulates the use by Fondazione Benetton Studi Ricerche of the social media it administers. Fondazione Benetton uses social media with the purpose of informing users, public and private bodies, and to communicate with them, fostering interaction.
Fondazione Benetton presents the outcomes of its studies and research, promotes the events and initiatives organised by it or proposed by other subjects it collaborates with on various platforms. It promotes its publications, disseminates the knowledge of its documentary assets, its awards, scholarships and educational offers, it publishes information to easily access its services.
It also informs users on issues of general interest relating to the topics its study and research activities focus on.
After ascertaining the reliability of the source, the staff in charge of managing social channels assesses and reposts information of public interest conveyed by third parties in order to encourage the dissemination of information and participation of users in the promoted activities.
This policy also regulates the behaviour that users must adhere to when interacting with the social media managed by Fondazione Benetton and when sharing content, be it images, text, audio file, videos or a mixture thereof.
2. Social Media platforms used
At the time of publishing this policy, Fondazione Benetton Studi Ricerche has a presence on the following social networks: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Vimeo.
These platforms have specific technical requirements and usage policies, which complement the rules herein.
This policy shall also be applicable in the event of activating further social network profiles by Fondazione Benetton.
The Facebook page
The “Fondazione Benetton Studi Ricerche” Facebook page is at https://www.facebook.com/FondazioneBenetton and is a public page, therefore it is accessible to all platform users. This page is managed by the staff of the Foundation’s communication department and its purpose is to promote the image, digital PR and online reputation of the Foundation, provide information on the Foundation’s scientific research and cultural initiatives, the educational offers, services and opportunities provided by the Foundation, promoting interaction with users. After ascertaining the reliability of the source, the Foundation may decide to publish/share information or initiatives promoted by third parties which it believes may be interesting for users. Users may contact the Foundation privately via messenger and with the direct feature. The information collected with the latter feature remains on the platform despite the fact that the messages are deleted by the admins.
The Instagram profile
The “@fondazionebenetton” Instagram profile is at https://www.instagram.com/fondazionebenetton/ and is a public account, therefore it is accessible to all platform users. This profile is managed by the staff of the communication department and its purpose is to promote the Foundation’s image, digital PR and online reputation, provide information on the Foundation’s scientific research and cultural initiatives, the educational offers, services and opportunities provided by the Foundation, promoting interaction with users. After ascertaining the reliability of the source, the Foundation may decide to publish/share information or initiatives promoted by third parties which it believes may be interesting for users. Users may contact the Foundation privately via the direct feature: the information collected with this feature remains on the platform despite the fact that the messages are deleted by the admins.
The Twitter profile
The “@Fond_Benetton” Twitter profile is at https://twitter.com/fond_benetton and is a public account, therefore it is accessible to all platform users. This profile is managed by the communication department’s staff and its purpose is to promote the Foundation’s image, digital PR and online reputation, provide information on the Foundation’s scientific research and cultural initiatives, the educational offers, services and opportunities provided by the Foundation. Users may contact the Foundation via the “message” feature or simply by tagging the Foundation (@Fond_Benetton) in their tweets. Users’ questions can be answered via the “direct message” feature, which safeguards the privacy of the content of said requests as the messages are not public. However, the information in the messages remains on the platform even if the admins delete the messages.
The YouTube channel
The “Fondazione Benetton” YouTube channel is at https://www.youtube.com/c/FondazioneBenettonStudiRicerche and is a public profile, therefore it is accessible to all platform users. This channel is managed by the staff of the Foundation’s communication department and its purpose is to promote the Foundation’s online image and reputation by providing videos of events, interviews and video messages. The multimedia content published meets the general technical criteria of the YouTube platform.
Embedding of the videos published on the Foundation’s channel on third party websites and blogs is allowed, in compliance with copyright regulations. However, behaviour such as reusing images and dissemination other than embedding is forbidden.
The Vimeo Channel
The “Fondazione Benetton” Vimeo channel is at https://vimeo.com/fondazionebenetton and is a public profile, therefore it is accessible to all platform users. This channel is managed by the staff of the Foundation’s communication department and its purpose is to promote the Foundation’s online image and reputation. It also acts as a virtual archive for viewing videos related to events, lectures, seminars, conferences, concerts, interviews, video messages, trailers and extracts of documentaries produced by the Foundation. The multimedia content published meets the general technical criteria of the Vimeo platform. Embedding of the videos published on the Foundation’s channel on third party websites and blogs is allowed, in compliance with copyright regulations. However, behaviour such as reusing images and dissemination other than embedding is forbidden.
3. Rules of conduct
The “rules of conduct” (netiquette) with network users are a pact based on dialogue, as follows:
• everyone is allowed to express their opinion, with fairness and consideration, while respecting the opinions of others;
• any user is responsible for the messages they send, the contents they publish and the opinions they express. However, no insults, profanities, vulgarity, obscenities, offences, threats and, in general, violent attitudes shall be tolerated. The Foundation shall decide on a case by case basis what actions to undertake to protect its rights or those of any other user whose rights might have been infringed;
• the public relevance of the topics is the essential requisite for interaction: the Foundation’s social channels cannot be used to deal with personal cases;
• no form of advertising, spam or promotion of private interests or illegal activities shall be tolerated: should any such content be posted, it shall be removed as soon as possible;
• the published content must respect people’s privacy: therefore, it is forbidden to publish one’s own or others’ personal details (email addresses, telephone numbers, current account numbers, addresses etc.). The content posted in breach of the regulations on personal data protection and of the fundamental rights and freedoms of individuals shall be regularly removed;
• no content that infringes copyright, nor the unauthorised use of registered trademarks shall be permitted. The Foundation undertakes to prevent and counteract such event, it being understood that liability lies with the author of the post/comment;
• in the event of failure to comply with the rules in this policy, the Foundation reserves the right to delete the content, block users from its virtual spaces and report them to the competent authorities, based on the severity of the case.
4. Hours during which the channels are supervised
The Foundation’s social media channels are supervised from Monday to Friday, from 9am to 6pm.
The response times to any questions may vary according to the type of request. The responses are provided by the communication staff of Fondazione Benetton after liaising with the competent offices in relation to the content, as a rule within 48 hours from the request or, in the event of holidays or closure of the Foundation, within the first two working days.
The use of the pages and accounts of Fondazione Benetton on social media might not be suitable for urgent requests – for instance concerning tickets or bookings. For these needs, it is recommended to contact the Foundation’s secretariat, on 0422 5121.
To answer the most frequently asked questions, the Foundation publishes news on its activities and services, as well as all other information that might be useful, on its corporate website (www.fbsr.it), which is regularly updated.
