Gaetano Cozzi Prize and theathral show Homo Ludens

On Saturday 10 at 5 p.m., the Gaetano Cozzi Prizes for studies on the history of games, 2017 edition, will be awarded to Guillaume Bureaux and Umberto Cecchinato, with a special mention for Vincenzo Tedesco. The award-winning works are now being published in the 24th volume of “Ludica. Annali di storia e civiltà del gioco” [Ludica. Annals of the history and culture of games], curated and published by Fondazione Benetton.
On the occasion of the award ceremony, a theatrical performance will take place, by the young theatre company Malmadur, which will stage Homo Ludens, a work in keeping with the spirit of the award, dedicated to recreational activities.
It is an impromptu series of games that will be played in an environment where the public will be able to influence the game, and may then be performed at the schools of Treviso.
The award-winning papers deal with the topic of gambling policies in mediaeval Treviso, the function of jousts, tournaments and chivalrous practices in general under the Holy Roman Empire at the time of Charles V, and the relationship between the Inquisition and the spells to win games.
