In January 2017 the fourth edition of the Early Music project at casa Cozzi will kick off, organised by Fondazione Benetton Studi Ricerche and almamusica433. At the scheduled lecture, the artistic director, Stefano Trevisi, will present the programme of concerts, study lectures, masterclasses, workshops, activities for schools.
Season 2017 was inspired by Mimesis, the book by German philologist Erich Auerbach, the first work on the representation of reality. Like literature and painting, music also lives off of signs that are translated into sounds, but between sound and sign, there is the personality of the musician who brings these signs back to life, recreating the sound.
The fourth edition of the Early Music project at casa Cozzi wants to offer a peak into the five hundred years since the birth of Gioseffo Zarlino and the 450 years after the death of the much more renowned Monteverdi who, with his “seconda pratica” turned the tables, a glimpse from where we can admire what was a very important period for the detailed analysis and when the most radical and important choices in music history were made.
Once again this year the initiative will bring to Treviso some of the most prominent and appreciated musicians from the international scene, in addition to musicologists and scholars who will be given the task of accompanying the public through the geography of the signs of early music.
