Documentation centre
The documentation centre of Fondazione Benetton Studi Ricerche, designed for study and research purposes related to the scientific work of the Fondazione, became open to the public back in 1990 and during the same year the inauguration of the library took place.
In the following years, several other fields were added such as the organisation of the iconographic archive, the creation of the map library and, from the end of the 90’s onwards, the design of the archive.
Scholars and researchers cooperate with the construction of the documentation centre by giving reports on the several areas. All the materials acquired and produced during the activity of the Fondazione in its various branches, can be found in their relative sections.
Collections along with book and documentary archives deriving from donations or acquisitions are stored and available, preserving their unity, in their relative sections.
All the published materials stored in the library and in the map library are catalogued and available through the general catalogue on electronic media, available on the Internet as well. The documentation pertaining to both the archive and the iconographic archive has been partially catalogued and inventoried.
The services offered by the documentation centre are the following: reference, loans (local and inter-library), document delivery, Internet access, designated stations for browsing of multimedia materials, reproduction (self-service or on request), study room, browsing room, researches on request and guided tours.
Since 2003, the documentation centre has been hosting workshops on specific projects.
